Walt Disney World

I left my cold hometown for Orlando, Florida on September 24th 2003, to work at the Norwegian Pavillion in Epcot, Walt Disney World. It was an experience I'll never forget! I worked at the Norwegian attraction, Maelstrom, which we nicknamed "The Ride of Doom". You go on an adventure where you see vikings, trolls, a talking tree (at least that's what I think it is) and an oil platform. There is a small drop in there too :)There is also a somewhat old movie from Norway playing in a theatre which you go through after you come off the ride. I had a lot of fun working there, but sometimes it was very stressful. None of the days were the same though :) And I had great managers and coordinators!

All the internationals and also the kids from the college programs were living in appartmentcomplexes, and the appartments varied in size from the smallest, housing 2 people, to the biggest housing 8 people! I lived in a 6 people appartment which was ok wtih me! I shared a room (Bedroom and bathroom) with a girl from Venezuela the first three months, and then I had the room all to myself for two months! Yey! The people in my appartment were really nice! Lorena was from Mexico, Samantha from Italy, Yukari from Japan and Christina from Germany.

The best thing about being there however, was going to the parks (where we had free admission) on our days off! Walt Disney World is home to four theme parks, and I went to all of them many times! There's also two water parks (Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon), over 20 resort hotels and golf courses, and various shopping and entertainment areas (For instance Downtown Disney with an AMC Movietheatre and Pleasure Island)

EPCOT

Epcot

Epcot is divided into two parts, Future World and World Showcase. World Showcase consists of eleven pavillions which are located around a little lake (World Showcase Lagoon) If you turn left when entering World Showcase, you will see the lands in this order: Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, USA (The American Adventure) Japan, Marocco, France, Great Britain and Canada.

DISNEY'S ANIMAL KINGDOM

Animal Kingdom

Animal Kingdom is one of my favourite parks. It is a combination of a Zoo and an amusement park. The park is beautiful and there are plants, trees and animals from all over the world. It is divided into several parts, Asia, Africa, Discovery Island, Camp Minnie Mickey and Dinoland USA amongst others.

DISNEY MGM STUDIOS

MGM

MGM is a park that concentrates on tv and movies. It reminds me a little bit of Hollywood. In MGM you can go on the Backlot Tour and see how special effects are created. It has a Star Wars area, a Muppet area, Indiana Jones Stuntshow, The Great Movie Ride and much more.

MAGIC KINGDOM

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom is what many people think of as THE Park, it's the park that most people are familiar with. This is because in other Disney parks in the world (Disneyland in California, Disneyland Paris and Disneyland Tokyo) only have a Magic Kingdom. Sadly, Walter Elias Disney passed away before the park was finished. Walt Disney World was dedicated to Walt by his brother Roy Disney, when it opened for the first time October 1st 1971.

COCOA BEACH

Cocoa Beach

While I was over there I only went on one vacation. In February 2004 me and Rebecca (One of my best friends) rented a car and drove to Cocoa Beach! :)
